Please note, these are 2! special sculptures in bronze/copper The 'Seven Acrobats' & 2 acrobats by the Dutch sculptor John Bier (1936, Santpoort)
This set in particular makes it unique and is a beautiful combination. The slightly smaller statue with 2 acrobats is 32 cm high, the base is 8.5 by 8.5 cm. A white spot is visible on the base, this was probably repaired at some point (so not the statue itself but near the base and is barely visible. See also the photo.
The beautiful statues are in good condition.
John Bier (Santpoort, December 17, 1936) is a Dutch sculptor and draftsman. Bier was a student at the Institute for Applied Arts Education in Amsterdam from 1954 to 1958. When he was three years old, he moved with his parents to Alkmaar, where he still lives and works. People play an important role in Bier's work.
As a child, John Bier wanted to be a farmer, but an observant primary school teacher noticed his talent for drawing. After vocational school, Bier graduated from the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam in the 1950s. He received a scholarship and started his own business. John Bier subsequently worked as an assistant sculptor in Amsterdam and at the Van Tetterode glass studio in Amsterdam. Sculptor John Bier works on commission and as an independent artist. Bier is never proud of his work, but it does him good when his work of art is appreciated and enriches the environment. John Bier is averse to detailed fiddling; you have to see immediately what an image represents. Well-known works by his hand are 'De Strandvonder' at Camperduin and 'De Cheese Traders' on Waagplein.
