Joop Kropff - Female nude

Very beautiful painting by Joop Kropff, a female nude.

Signed at the top right.

dimensions 55.5 x 45.5 cm / with frame 69 x 59 cm. Painting has some craquelé, but otherwise the painting is in good beautiful condition.

Joop Kropff was born on 22 May 1892 in The Hague and died on 9 May 1979 in Delft. Kropff is considered to belong to the “New Hague School”.

He studied drawing at the Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague and further developed himself as a painter (self-taught).

Kropff was very 'mobile' as a painter and worked in Delft, Paris, Bruges and Ghent.

He was active as a graphic artist, painter, (pen)draftsman, pastelist, watercolourist, etcher and lithographer.

His subjects were also very diverse: Kropff's known works include figure representations, harbour views, interiors, landscapes, nude figures, non-figurative representations, portraits, still lifes and beach scenes.

He was a member of Pulchri Studio in The Hague, of Fugare, the Hague Art Circle, the Delft Art Circle and the Pictura Drawing Society in Dordrecht.

He was also a teacher at the Drawing and Painting Academy 'Ars Aemulae Naturae' in Leiden.

As a teacher of Jos van den Berg, Marguérite van Beurden, Karel Bleijenberg, Theo de Kok, Adrie Mouthaan, Dick van Noort and Marianne de Ruiter, he passed on much of the knowledge and experience he had acquired to them.

Frames: Damage to frames is not described. If a work is framed behind glass and the glass is broken, this will be mentioned. In photos of framed works, reflection may be visible.

When purchasing, the work can be picked up in Borne (near Hengelo, Overijssel). When paying in advance, the term here is very generous. From a few weeks and if necessary even months.

If this is not possible, a courier service of your choice can be used. Within 80 km from Borne I can possibly deliver it myself for a reasonable fee.
