Dimensions H. 40 x W. 42 cm Lukie de Bree (Hilversum, 1953) Do not expect artificially arranged bouquets, I suffice with a solitary flowering branch, from the bud to the withered leaf. There I find hidden treasures and indulge myself in dissecting a single flower or leaf shape. The floral patterns and graceful lines offer numerous possibilities for combination and repetition. This creates more abstract compositions full of eroticism and drama. The delicate, ephemeral flower comes to life with warm earth colors in transparent layers. Paintings It starts with a lot of color and with templates cut from cardboard, the final image is created layer over the layer. Etching The zinc plate that is printed already has a tone of its own. I add something to that and this creates a kind of skin on the paper. The colors are often a bit dingy and dirty, but I really like that. Textile The design is drawn by hand, then I screen print the pattern on the fabric.
