In 1937 Man Ray brought Nusch and Ady together in his studio, close to surrealist circles, who soon became muses of this movement, and both models for him who quickly understood their potential, that day in 1937 he engaged in a hand-to-hand fight of the two women, revealing the tops of their breasts, leaving two bodies in the service of a revolution, that of eroticism and sexuality, difficult to reveal at the time. Nusch is Paul Eluard's second wife, with her peculiar mind, appreciated by the surrealists, open to the world, ultra-sensitive, she perceives, feels, radiates and vibrates, from 1931 she begins to pose for Man Ray, clothed or completely naked a bond develops between them. And the one nicknamed Ady Fidelin, model and dancer born in Guadeloupe in Pointe-à-Pitre, the first colored model to appear in the American press of the 1930s, became her companion, her muse, Man Ray introduced her in his hedonistic circle of befriended artists and writers, followers of surrealism. “I started as a painter. By photographing my paintings, I discovered the importance of their reproduction in black and white. One day I came to destroy the original to keep only the reproduction. From then on I have always believed that painting is an outdated form of expression and that photography will dethrone it if the public is visually educated. For me one thing is certain, I have to experiment somehow. Photography gives me the means, a simpler and faster means than painting.” man beam
