De bloemstillevens van Margriet Smulders (Bussum 1955) kenmerken zich door een weelderige beeldtaal. De Nederlandse schilderkunst van de zeventiende eeuw, de Vlaamse Barok, achttiende-eeuwse Italiaanse plafondschilderingen en Griekse Mythologie vormen belangrijke inspiratiebronnen. De foto's komen tot stand door onder andere het gebruik van een grote waterbak gevuld met water, melk, inkt of bietensap. Werken van Margriet Smulders zijn in talloze internationale collecties vertegenwoordigd.
