• Large and unique (Artist Proof copy) Etching and aquatint "Hotel du Lac". Made and printed by the versatile visual artist Peter Bes (1945-). The etching is in good condition, is signed in pencil and has never been framed. The dimensions of the etching itself are 70x60cm (HxW)

• Peter Bes first studied at the then Rijksnormaalschool in the 1960s and later at the Rijksacademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. He exhibited regularly both at home and abroad. He participated in graphic biennials and triennials in Switzerland (Grenchen, 1979 and 1982), Poland (Krakau, 1978), Bulgaria (Varna, 1985), Germany (Dortmund, 1993) and the United States (San Francisco, 1980). In 1980 he received the first prize for portrait graphics in Tuzla, in the former Yugoslavia. In 2012 a number of his spatial works were on display at the Paper Biennial in Museum Rijswijk. Bes is a member of the KunstenaarsCentrumBergen.

Work
Always looking for adventure, Bes has experience in various techniques. These include etching, (analog) photography, poetry and drawing/painting. He also makes sculptures from painted paper and cardboard: doves, greyhounds, marines, jazz and blues musicians, life-size, often placed together in groups.
In the oeuvre of Peter Bes an intriguing play of light and dark can be observed, which leaves a 'cinematic' impression. It mainly concerns abstract representations. He himself says about this: 'What happens in a series of images in films, I have to try to capture in one moment. I choose a staging, for the decor, in which I place the figures. In doing so I often combine different worlds or bring together characters from different times.'
In addition to smaller assignments/works, Bes is also known for large-scale deliveries for, among other things, the 100th anniversary of Albert Heijn and the opening of the renovated RAI Amsterdam.
