The Dutch artist Peter Diem (1945) paints like a tornado and lives his art. Bold, fearless colors, thick, juicy paint and bold sensual lines are the hallmark of his paintings. They reflect his zest for life, his sense of humor and his outspoken individuality. The powerful paintings are therefore representative exponents of his turbulent lifestyle. When he was in his early twenties, Peter Diem left the Netherlands for the United States. He spent his days earning a living as a lithographer, but his soul was steeped in the paintings he worked on at night in his studio. Peter was, and still is, fascinated by the COBRA group (an art school founded in Copenhagen, Brussels and Amsterdam), which experimented wildly.
