Huis de Hoorn te Rijswijk.
Ets : 42,5 x 29,5 cm.
Rechtsonder met potlood gesigneerd.
Midden onder in de ets : P de Regt.

Ets en passe-partout zijn zuurvrij.
Inclusief lijst : 62 x 48 cm.
Ets, passe-partout en lijst zijn in goede staat.

Piet de Regt woonde en werkte het grootste deel van zijn leven in en rond Rijswijk.
Hij werd aangetrokken door de toen nog ongerepte natuur in de omgeving van het dorp.
Hij schilderde en tekende voornamelijk landschappen in impressionistische stijl in de trant van de Haagse School.
Dit bevorderde ook de verkoop van zijn werk in een periode die nogal moeilijk was.
Denk aan de grote depressie, de Tweede Wereldoorlog, en de jaren van wederopbouw.
Een tijd waarin menig kunstenaar grote moeite had het hoofd boven water te houden.
Het werk van De Regt is nog steeds de moeite waard.
De topwerken van deze kleine meester naderen het niveau van de grote meesters uit die tijd, zoals Louis Apol.
