Warffemius (The Hague 1956) Nature is an important theme in Warffemius' versatile oeuvre. In many of his works we see references to plants and trees. The abstraction is often taken to extremes, resulting in simple stylized trees and trunks with a few branches, sometimes with a leaf on them. Reduced to their essence. Warffemius is a versatile artist. He makes sculptures, drawings and paintings. Over the past few years, Warffemius's paintings have become much freer and more open again. He breaks free from the strict stylization and paints delicate twigs, stems and mushrooms in thin transparent paint. The recent paintings and drawings are white and full of poetry. In his sculptures he continues to build on the strictly stylized forms from nature. These works are balanced, strong and poetic. At KunstRAI we show paintings and sculptures. Since 2005, Warffemius has been a member of the Potsdamer Gruppe, a German-Dutch group of artist friends. They regularly exhibit together. Members include Hubertus von der Golz, Frank Michael Zeidler, Armando and Sjoerd Buisman. For the past 4 years, Warffemius has regularly exhibited in museums in China.
