Holstein staat bekend om zijn ingekleurde etsen. Ook deze ets is daar een voorbeeld van. Het past in zijn voorkeur voor een wat absurdistische toon en een ironisch commentaar op kunst en waarneming. Hij doceerde aan de Academie voor Beeldende Kunst en Vormgeving in Den Bosch en aan de Academie voor Kunst en Industrie in Enschede. Tot 1985 was hij hoofddocent ‘vrije grafiek’ aan de Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten.
Het door de kunstenaar handgesigneerde werk stelt een moeder met kind voor waarbij ledematen en kledingstukken los van elkaar in de ruimte zweven. Het is een met waterverf ingekleurde ets op licht getint papier. De ets zit in een mooi ruim passe-partout. De titel is wat verwarrend omdat er een spelfout in staat. Of is dat opzet? In de linkerbenedenhoek staat het nummer 125, het werknummer van de kunstenaar. In het depot van het Rijks Museum hangt een exemplaar van dit werk met volgnummer 11/40. Het daarna van de pers gerolde exemplaar met nummer 12/40 kan in uw huis komen te hangen.
