“Song of Songs”, het Hooglied uit de Bijbel, behoort tot een cyclus van 12 schilderijen. Het Hooglied beschrijft de erotische liefde in een bloemrijke taal. Het vrouwelijke model is Marion van Nieuwpoort, die 35 jaar de partner is geweest van Poen de Wijs tot haar vroege dood in 2008. De mannelijke rol in deze serie is ingevuld door zijn vriend Peter Weekers, indertijd fluitist bij muziekgroep Flairck.
