Richard Lee Barton werd geboren in Arkansas (USA, 1952), verhuisde naar België toen hij negentien was en ontwikkelde een eigen stijl in de schilderkunst.

Hij kwam in contact met twee Vlaamse meesters die hem lessen gaven voor een aantal jaren: de realist Louis Jacques Camerlinckx (1920-1989) en de expressionist Staf Van Elzen (1915-1987), hij volgde ook een opleiding aan de Academie van Antwerpen.

Richard Lee Barton heeft diverse expositie’s gehad in Europa en in Amerika. o.a. de PAN in Amsterdam.
