American illustrator and painter of German descent. In the 1960s he was popular with his figurative art. Laterally he belonged to pop art. His mother owned a corsetry business in Nuremberg. This perhaps explains why he often used corsets as a theme. From 1924 to 1927 he attended the art academy in Munich. In 1948 he obtained American citizenship. His 1st solo exhibition took place in 1954 at the Betty Parsons Gallery. His first painting was Meeting from 1953.
