This colorful landscape depicts pollarded willows in a sunny and fresh setting. The work was created by Richard Smeets (born 1955), a Dutch artist from Gennep. He studied at the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts.
Smeets's oeuvre has three thematic periods. In the first, women take center stage. The second is inspired by his travels to Malaysia and Indonesia, his mother's native country. In the third, he focuses on the Dutch landscape, of which this work is a beautiful example.
