Roy Lichtenstein - "As I opened fire"

The three color lithographs on offer, entitled "As I opened fire," are part of the special edition limited to 3,000 copies issued by the Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam) in 1966. These were color-corrected exclusively using Lichtenstein's original triptych. All three sheets are in immaculate condition and, in addition to their freshness, impress with a color intensity that could only have been achieved with the works' professional storage over the past 59 years.
In addition to further information about this original print, only these 3,000 triptychs have the signature "corrected with the original" on the back of each sheet (see images "Stamps 1 & 2") and thus do not belong to the countless reprints of the last decades, all of which have been marked on the back either without this crucial feature or only with "color corrected from Stedelijk Museum", i.e. they were only authorized by the said museum but not commissioned.
The Stedelijk Museum commissioned these high-quality lithographs, which are true to Lichtenstein's original work, on the occasion of its purchase of the artist's triptych of the same name in 1964, and by limiting their edition, created a globally sought-after collector's item.
