Joseph August, bekend als Sepp. Schilder, tekenaar en etser, bekend om zijn bookplates; geboren Miesbach, stierf in München.
Sepp Frank werd geboren in Miesbach als zoon van de plaatselijke arts Dr. Albert Frank geboren. Hij studeerde aan de Academie voor Schone Kunsten van München , een stage die hij voltooide in tegenstelling tot zijn collega Christian Schad , die ook in Miesbach werd geboren. Frank heeft in een vroeg stadium talloze studiereizen gemaakt om zijn opleiding voort te zetten. Hij wendde zich al snel tot grafische voorstellingen en staat nog steeds bekend om zijn talrijke bookplates. Hij woonde enkele jaren in Neustadt an der Aisch, waar in het stadhuis een groot schilderij van de prins-regent Luitpold hangt. Naast portretten was een ander werkterrein het glas-in-lood en als voorbeeld creëerde hij werken voor MünchenKathedraal, de Marienkirche in Limburg an der Lahn, de St.Otto kerk in Bamberg (1927) en de St. Gabriel kerk in München, maar ook in 1952 een Maria met kind voor de kath. Sint-Agathakerk in Dülmen-Rorup en in 1937 het raam "Blessings of coal chemistry" voor het administratiegebouw van Degussa GmbH in Herne-Wanne-Eickel. Deze werken zijn tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog gedeeltelijk vernietigd. Al in 1942 werd hij geëerd door een speciale tentoonstelling in het Maximiliaan Museum in Augsburg.
Sepp Frank woonde voornamelijk in Feldafing.
