Stanislaw LEWKOWIZC (Hoensbroek 1956)
Lewkowicz comes from a Jewish-Polish family that ended up as a stateless citizen in South Limburg after the Second World War. After Lewkowicz completed his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Utrecht, he continued his education at the Warsaw Academy in Poland, but had to leave because of the explosive political situation in Poland. He traveled through Europe for a few years and then Lewkowicz settled in Amsterdam, where he still lives and works. In addition to his work, Lewkowicz also contains commissions for public space. In 2013, Lewkowicz realized a 104 meter long new light sculpture on the A50 highway, in time and modernity, that resembles a mirage in the flat landscape near Eindhoven. Lewkowicz bundles the traffic movements with the help of cameras.
