Every Monday evening a Special auction ends focusing on a particular artist or theme. Would you like to participate as a seller? That is possible! You will find more information here.
Thomas Baumgärtel is also known by the pseudonym “Bananensprayer”. The Cologne artist studied art and psychology. Baumgärtel first started marking an art location in 1986 with the spray-painted banana. This was done using the so-called pochoir technique. He used a stencil for graffiti; this type of spray-painting technique is also called stencil art. Since then, he has been marking what he considers to be the most interesting art locations in the world with his banana. It is the seal of quality and the unofficial logo of his art scene. Many art experts see the spray-painted bananas as a tribute to Andy Warhol and his Velvet Underground banana.
