Hettinga Tromp, Tjitske Geertruida Maria Van
Groningen, 1872 - Zwolle, 1962

Geertruida Van Hettinga Tromp was a student of Hendrik Bremmer, as were J. Zandleven, D. Komter, and H. van Daalhoff, among others. From him, this painter learned the pointillist technique that characterizes her work. She primarily painted simple still lifes, church interiors, and tranquil architectural scenes. Light plays a special role in her work. It is diffuse, sifted in character, the skies are thinly veiled, and heavy shadows are nowhere to be found. Museums: Centraal Museum in Utrecht and Rijksmuseum Kröller-Müller in Otterlo.
