De kunstenaar Ton Pape werd geboren in 1916 in Rijswijk waar hij in 2003 overleed.
Pape volgde in Den Haag zijn opleiding aan de Academie voor Beeldende kunsten en aan het Atelier Hugo Landheer.
Ton Pape heeft een heel divers oeuvre, van traditioneel werk, landschappen, zeegezichten en portretten tot (non-)figuratief. Hij tekende, schilderde en aquarelleerde, was graficus en textielkunstenaar.
In 1954 had Ton Pape zijn eerste tentoonstelling in het Cultureel Centrum in Den Haag, er volgde daarna nog vele nationale en internationale tentoonstellingen in o.a. Italië en België.
Werk van Ton Pape is o.a. in het bezit van het Museum Rijswijk, de Rijkscollectie en de kunstcollecties van ABN-AMRO en Philips.
