Offered Beautiful earthenware sculpture from China. The single female figure has her hair tied in two large loops. Her outerwear features extended winged shoulders and a stand-up collar that leads to a V-shaped front. Her shoes have extended, upturned toes. Her elongated sleeves are representative of the court fashion of the time. This figure is decorated with colored pigments applied after firing. Because the paint colors did not have to withstand baking, a wider range of colors could be used. However, these colors are not bound to the ceramic and are therefore sensitive to flaking. The tricolor glaze technique (sancai) did not lend itself to creating skin tones. A Must for the Collector who has an eye for it.
