Unknown - Rare Gypsum Stones Seated Monk on Rock (Early 16th century) - Sold

This is a unique religious antique statue from my private collection. It is a plaster stone figure of a robed monk sitting on a rock. He is bald but has a beard and his shoulders are slightly hunched. The sculptor has captured the tender moment when, deep in contemplation and prayer, he kisses his rosary finished in a wood imitation. Figurine has an exceptional Beautiful Wonderful Patina, and is beautifully hand formed and has museum quality beautiful eye catser wherever you put it. Note: There are lines in this piece that look like cracks, but they are original folds in the plaster stone. Two small chips one on the sleeve and one at the bottom of the robe. A must for the Collector who has an eye on it. A very cheap offer for collectors, enthusiasts and the very special gift.
