Will Leewens (1923-1988) leert op jonge leeftijd tekenen van
zijn negen jaar oudere zwager Jan Roëde. In maart 1947 exposeert Leewens samen
met onder meer Peter Alma, Piet Ouborg, Wim Sinemus en Friedrich Vordemberge
Gildewart in het Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam met de groep Vrije Beelden. De
groep is een verschijning in de kunst, zoals die na de oorlog in verschillende
landen optrad, en die voortbouwt op het expressionisme, het cubisme en het
surrealisme. Will Leewens was, samen met o.a. Jan Roede, Willem Hussem en Piet
Ouborg, onderdeel van de Nieuwe Haagse School.
Zijn werk is opgenomen in onder meer de collectie van
het Cobra Museum voor Moderne Kunst in Amstelveen.
Het werk is in goede staat en voorzien van een lijst.
