Willem Jansz. Blaeu - **Prijs Verlaagd** Duke of Brabant 1635

Beautiful hand-colored engraving by Willem Janszoon Blaeu from 1635.

Rare edition of Blaeu's map of Brabant, oriented with west at the top of the map. Bottom right a beautiful cartouche with a seated female figure carrying a globe and compasses and the coat of arms of Brabant. On the left a second female sits on top of the cartouche and next to the coat of arms. The map includes the area between the rivers Rhine, Meuse and Scheldt, with Namur as the southernmost city. From the 1635 edition of Blaeu's Atlas Novus. The map first appeared in Blaeu's rare Atlas supplement from 1631. Still a very attractive color after all these years.
