Wim Bosma - Vissershaven - Sold

Offered is a beautiful artistic painting by the well-known Amsterdam artist Wim Bosma (1902-1985). Bosma's paintings were sold all over the world and have been purchased by various major museums. Wim Bosma was a painter, graphic designer, maker of woodcuts and a monumental artist of wall paintings, including Schiphol Airport. Wim Bosma's main subjects were harbor views and technical subjects such as trains and airplanes. As a great lover of Jazz music, he also painted Jazz paintings and African art.
Wim Bosma lived and worked most of his life in Amsterdam, further in Rotterdam, Vreeland (Stichtste Vecht) and Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, in Amsterdam he had a studio at Stadhouderskade 100
Member of the artists' association De Independents, resigned when the association came under German censorship (culture chamber) during the occupation in World War II.
Work by Wim Bosma currently in Dutch Museums in 2022: Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam (eight paintings) - Museum Rotterdam (one painting) The Rijksmuseum has various drawings and woodcuts in its collection. For Schiphol, Bosma painted a large plaque/wall painting for the arrivals hall, which was lost during the bombing of Schiphol during the Second World War. He also designed numerous posters for sporting events and exhibitions. The Stedelijk Museum has six in its collection.
