In 2014 the Perth Mint of Australia released a beautiful 1oz silver lenticular coin with an amazing animation of Charlie Chaplin.  The 2014 Charlie Chaplin – 100 Years of Laughter - 1 oz 999 Silver Proof coin has a very limited mintage of only 5000 coins and is legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu.

By using lenticular lenses Charlie Chaplin’s onscreen character, The Tramp, can be seen walking just like in the famous scene from the movie, The Circus. A border around the image has the inscription CHARLIE CHAPLIN, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mint mark. The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination and the 2014 year-date are on the obverse.

The coin is housed in a latex display case with illustrated shipper, also comes with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

Lenticular printing is a technology in which lenticular lenses (a technology that is also used for 3D displays) are used to produce printed images with an illusion of depth, or the ability to change or move as the image is viewed from different angles.

Examples of lenticular printing include flip and animation effects such as winking eyes, and modern advertising graphics that change their message depending on the viewing angle.
