Martin Sjardijn's work is often based on a painterly reaction on printed photograps. Sjardijn, who studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague is painter and photographer. He works in the overlap between abstract and figurative art, in reaction on reality models and pictures of internet. He is inspired by artists such as Francis Bacon, Arnulf Rainer and William the Kooning. Sjardijn is using quality oil , ink, photos, prints, linen and paper.
He exhibited in New York and various galleries including the renowned gallery Swart in Amsterdam. His work is included in private collections in the Netherlands and abroad.
