Lorenzo Piemonti was born in 1935 in Carate Brianza, a few kilometres away from Milan. He drew the attention of national and international critics for his plastic results, which take from number, arithmetic and colour the inspiration for the creation of mostly three-dimensional works, with multiple and skilful colour combinations. Piemonti’s experience, gained from his ten-year stay in Zurich in contact with masters of Swiss concrete art (Max Bill, Richard Paul Lohse, Camille Graeser), materialised with the creation of works characterised by archetypal geometric shapes and strong chromatic contrasts.
