Limburg School

The Limburg School consisted of a group of visual artists who were active in the Netherlands in the first half of the 20th century. They made paintings and glass paintings in mainly Roman Catholic churches. They painted in a slightly romantic expressionist style. The artist did not really want to show reality, but mainly expressed inner feelings, ideas and tensions. The Limburg School had its heyday between 1918 and 1940.
