Barbares d’Esprit

Barbares d’Esprit (founded 2017)

Barbares d’Esprit, or ‘Thinking Barbarians’, is an artist group founded by Ad Arma and Bert van Santen. Quraiseh and Mark Verdoes also participated in the first joint work sessions. The artists collaborate on paintings and graphic art, where various personal working methods come together in a single artwork. Their joint paintings are abstract and combine expressive gestures with restrained passages. Music plays an important role during the creative process and influences the rhythm and mutual interaction. The group set out its principles in a joint manifesto.
