Founded in 1880
The Royal Canadian Academy of Arts (RCA) is a Canadian arts organization. The purpose of the RCA was to promote the growth and development of the visual arts in Canada. This goal was expressed by three points. First, they wanted the government to establish a National Gallery, second, they wanted to hold exhibitions in Canada's major cities, and finally, they wanted to establish a school of art and design.
Today, the RCA is an organization to which 790 professional artists and designers have joined. These members are active in more than thirty different visual arts disciplines.
