DRESDNER KUNSTGENOSSENSCHAFT (Dresden 1867 – Dresden 1945)
The Dresdner Kunstgenossenschaft was founded in Dresden in 1867 as an association promoting the visual arts and representing the interests of artists in Saxony. Among its members were Robert Sterl, Sascha Schneider, Richard Müller and Fritz Kochendörfer. The association organised exhibitions and provided a platform for painters, sculptors, printmakers and architects affiliated with the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts. Over time, the Kunstgenossenschaft evolved from an academically oriented body into a broader representative of contemporary artistic movements. The association ceased to exist after the Second World War.
