Founded in 1946
The Salon des Réalités Nouvelles (since 1946, Paris) is an annual exhibition dedicated to abstract art. It originated from the pre-war Réalités Nouvelles group, which promoted non-figurative art in all its forms: geometric, lyrical and constructive. From 1946 onwards the salon brought together a wide range of international artists, including Sonia Delaunay, Auguste Herbin and posthumously Piet Mondrian. It became an important platform for abstract tendencies in post-war art and continues to stimulate dialogue between different abstract movements.
