Achille Zoungrana is a painter who lives and works in Ouagadougou. He learned to paint under the guidance of the artist Sama and also attended various art courses and workshops in Ouagadougou. His paintings are predominantly abstract and are built up from transparent, subtly layered applications of paint. Red, black, and white play a significant role in his palette, referencing the traditional ceremonies surrounding the Moro Naba—the king of the Mossi—where these colors symbolize concepts such as struggle, creation, life, and peace. Zoungrana works with oil and acrylic paints and mixed media on canvas, making extensive use of open space and highly simplified forms.

Proceeds from this painting support the Uncle Sams Foundation
The board of the Uncle Sams Foundation believes that every impoverished child in the village of Kirwanira in Uganda, has the right to primary education. This education should be provided in a safe, healthy, and loving environment where children can develop and flourish. By providing education, we increase these children's chances of a better future. The goal of the Uncle Sams Foundation is to increase the percentage of impoverished children attending school by 30%. In a village where 90% of schools are established by entrepreneurs for profit, the high costs make it impossible for 60% of the impoverished children and orphans in Kirwanira to attend school. Establishing an Uncle Sams Foundation School—funded by donations from friends, family, and businesses in the Netherlands—will allow school costs to be significantly reduced. This will ensure that more than 200 impoverished children gain access to primary education over the next five years.
