Recognizable expressive color screen print by Ad van Hassel (1953). Subject: 3 Blue Tulips. Image dimensions: W. 60 x H. 40 cm, Edition: 31 of 50, stated in pencil at the bottom right. Signed by hand (pencil) at the bottom left. Photos are part of the description. About the artist: Ad van Hassel was born in Roosendaal in 1953. He trained as a visual artist in the studio of Maarten Krabbé, where he learned to work with various techniques. Themes in his work often include landscapes, flowers, and cityscapes. His eye for detail is particularly evident in his etchings. Consequently, in 1985, one of his etchings was included in the Print Collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Ad van Hassel began painting in 1980. After years of creative wanderings, he opened two exclusive galleries in the Amsterdam Sonesta and Krasnapolsky hotels in 1983. However, his tulip paintings and colorful screen prints are his most famous. In 1990, Van Hassel dedicated himself to making screen prints of his paintings. He achieved such high quality that other artists soon had their work screen-printed by him as well. For instance, he was Herman Brood's in-house printer for 12 years. Corneille, Jan Cremer, Rob Scholte, Shunyam, Peter Diem, and many other artists also frequently made use of his expertise. Ad has also specialized in a new technique. Using CNC laser cutting and milling of various plastics, Ad creates colored sculptures. Ad van Hassel is an innovative artist, known both at home and abroad.
