Agnes Maes - Mixed media, Abstract work.

Beautiful abstract work by the Belgian artist Agnes Maes. A variety of techniques were employed, including pencil, charcoal, and paint. Agnes Maes was a Flemish-Belgian painter and visual artist, born in Aarsele and died in Deinze. As the only female member, she was part of the Belgian variant of "The New Figuration," namely "The New Vision." Under the guidance of Roger Raveel, her indeterminacy—her back-and-forth movement within the fascinating void between signifier and signified—makes her work very honest. This culminates in an even more poignant result because she makes use of a dated medium. With her work, Agnes Maes proves that painting possesses an incredible will to survive and is capable of existing in-between on its own.
