About himself: Alfred Degens paints realistic, layered works that depict human failure with a healthy dose of humor. They are encounters between history and the present, from religion to science fiction and every other folly of the day, in an attempt to master our transience. In doing so, to enhance the readability of his work, he often makes use of familiar images.
