Alfred van Neste - City corner in Bruges

Alfred Van Neste was a Belgian artist born in 1874 in Bruges and died in 1969 in Sint-Genesius-Rode. He was a painter, watercolorist, draftsman, etcher, illustrator and poster designer. Education under his uncle Fl. Van Acker and at the Academies in Bruges and Antwerp. Settled in Antwerp and became a teacher at the Academy. Received numerous commissions from the city, including designing posters, floats and costumes for the processions. Settled in Uccle after the First World War. He mainly painted old, typical city corners, often in Bruges. Was also active as an illustrator and illustrated the jubilee edition of De Leeuw van Vlaanderen by H. Conscience in 1912. Work in the Museums in Bruges and Antwerp, among others.
