Andre Volten - Sculpture in bronze and marble, Exercise in plasticity

This is a special sculpture made of stainless steel, by artist André Volten (1925-2002). Volten was an influential Dutch sculptor, known for his abstract and geometric sculptures that often explored the boundaries of space and material. Born in Amsterdam, Volten began his art training at the National Academy of Visual Arts in his hometown, where he quickly developed his own artistic voice.
Volten is considered an important figure in post-war Dutch sculpture and was a pioneer in the use of industrial materials. His works, often made of steel or concrete, were characterized by clean lines, abstract shapes and geometric precision. He was an exponent of abstract art and minimalism, striving for simplicity and purity in his creations.
The work was produced in small editions.
It was discussed and valued (for €4,000) in the TV broadcast Art and Kitsch episode 3 of May 11, 2022 around the 20th minute. This piece was delivered to the current owner by the artist himself.
