Woodcut, 'bois perdu' technique. Antje Veldstra's name is inextricably linked to the woodcut technique. In 1992, her passion for creating monumental woodcuts resulted in her winning the Dutch Printmaking Prize. In 2004, she won another prize for her graphic work at the 13th Seoul-Space International Print Biennial. Her work cannot easily be categorized into a specific style. Color, form, structure, abstraction, light, and spatiality are keywords associated with her prints. Her goal is to offer the viewer a brief moment of inner reflection. Image from darkness, light from image.
