Anton Molkenboer - Portret P.J.H. van Vugt (Ridder in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau)

Beautiful portrait of PJH van Vugt, a gift on the occasion of his distinction in 1925 as Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau as 'resigned chairman of the special council of the St. Vincentius Society*.
Molkenboer was a Dutch artist and craftsman. He was active as a painter, draftsman and graphic designer.
After the mediation of Jozef Israëls, he was commissioned to record the devastation in San Francisco after the earthquake of 1905 in paintings.
Partly on the initiative of Molkenboer, the Nederlandsche Vereeniging voor Ambachts- en Nijverheidskunst was founded in 1904.
* The Vincentius Rotterdam Foundation has been supporting individuals and groups in spiritual and social need for more than 160 years. The foundation currently operates a monumental shelter and supports and initiates social assistance to people/families in Rotterdam society who are in need of help.
