Atie Diepenhorst - Clay portrait with drawings

Ceramic object by Atie Diepenhorst; her full name is Adriana Cornelia Diepenhorst. A female artist who worked her entire life on paintings, objects, ceramics, and sculptures in wood, bronze, and clay. She exhibited both domestically and internationally and received many commissions. She has a unique personal style that she gradually perfected starting in the 1970s. She also taught ceramics both at home and abroad and perfected her technique by building up her sculptures using thin slabs of clay. Her work is colorful and full of symbols and decorations. Nature, her life, and her dreams were her subjects. She preferred to work purely and intuitively. Her work can easily be compared to artists such as the Cobra artists Appel and Corneille. These visual artists of her time, just like Atie, worked from form, color, intuition, and were preferably inspired by children's drawings and paintings.
