Ben Leenen is a graphic artist and painter from Maastricht. He was one of the founders of the Elephant Press.
Text fragments are often incorporated into his work. An exhibition dedicated to his work is currently being held at Museum Valkenburg (Losgezongen activiteiten). He is a versatile artist with a long track record, featuring exhibitions in many galleries at home and abroad (including Raum für Kunst - Aachen, Neuhauser Kunstmühle-Salzburg, Northern Print Biennale, Newcastle), as well as a book illustrator (including Books & Co, NY).
The accompanying work is conceived as a farewell to school. The swallow seeking out the distance can also be found in much of his other work.
The work is signed BL/09 in the left bookmark and is in a black frame.
