Original painting by the Belgian artist Bert Hildebrandt (Antwerp 1906 – Spain 1974), trained at the Antwerp Academy and the NHISKA under Isidoor Opsomer, Julien Creytens, and Albert Saverys. Hildebrandt was known for his surrealist-figurative style, in which dream and reality, matter and spirit merge.

This work depicts an abstract, partly figurative composition in green and purple, enriched with gold leaf, signed "Hildebrandt" in the lower right corner. On the back, the reference number N° 726-EGL-271 is written in pencil — the abbreviation "EGL" refers to verre églomisé (French), also known as reverse glass painting: a technique in which painting is done on the back of glass, often in combination with gold or silver leaf, so that the image is visible through the glass. This immediately explains the glossy, deep appearance of this work.
