About the artist: Bram Vegt, a largely self-taught artist, has been painting entirely independently in his studio in Zaandam since 1980. He received his initial training in the painters' village of Bergen, with advice from Jaap Sax and painting lessons from Han Welledieck and Mary Koekebier. Subsequently, he took lessons in Amsterdam at the Stichting Kunstzinnige vorming (SKVA), under, among others, Ikor Kecsmiac, Anneke Hunt, and Cor Vrolijk. After that, he spent several years with the Zaan-based artist Reina Koerten. In addition to painting, he also received advice and lessons from the artist David Meibergen (see Pieter Scheen), which enabled him to perform extensive restoration work for collectors and the art trade. This includes a years-long restoration on canvas of the paintings of the St. Bonifacius Church in Zaandam. He was briefly a member of the Zaanse Schilders kring and a member of the Zaanse Modeltekenclub for many years. Exhibitions have been held at, among others: Het Noord-Hollands Dagblad (7 cityscapes of Zaandam) and La Place, a restaurant in Zaandam, featuring cityscapes. Kunsthandel Zoutman, Zaandijk.
