Christian Dotremont - Logogram
Powerful and spontaneous graphic work in which text and image merge into a rhythmic, poetic composition — typical of Dotremont's iconic logograms.
Copy 9/15
Hand-signed and numbered in pencil
Hand-signed and dated '1973' on the reverse by Guy Dotremont
In good condition, but there is discoloration from a previous framing, approximately 3mm on each edge (see photos). This can easily be concealed with a mat.
Size: 42 × 28 cm
Description
Christian Dotremont (1922–1979), Belgian poet and visual artist, was a co-founder of the CoBrA movement. His logograms form a unique cross between calligraphy, poetry, and abstract art. In this work, the written word is liberated from its readability and acquires an autonomous, visual power. The result is an intense and personal work of art that is both lyrically and graphically convincing.
