Els Devrieze - United in contrast

United in Contrast explores how opposites not only reinforce each other but can also form a whole together. Intense red tones, warm yellow accents, and powerful black structures meet in a layered composition. The compact, almost overwhelming mass of color stands in contrast to the openness of the white paper, where the paint gradually breaks down into fragile traces. The work seeks a balance between strength and vulnerability, between connection and isolation. What appears contradictory at first glance proves to be inextricably linked. A painting about the beauty of differences and the power that arises when opposites come together.
