Beautiful and unique work by the Amstelveen artist Erwin Verheijen. Signed and dated 1996. This concerns Verheijen's typical technique of a framed photo collage over which painting has been done. In good condition. Some pink paint is missing in the center of the front, it appears that this is not damage but occurred during the creative process.

Hendricus Johannes (Erwin) Verheijen (Amsterdam, January 24, 1941 – Laren, December 14, 2019) was a photographer and visual artist by profession.
Biography

After training at the Dutch Photography School in The Hague and with Godfried de Groot, 1958–1964, he started as a freelance photographer. He made reportages, portraits and landscape photos, but also devoted himself to experimental photography.

In 1968 he made a commissioned report on the Parisian student revolt (May revolution). In 1970 he established himself as an independent photographer. He worked for the art editorial staff of Het Parool and Trouw, among others. From 1973 he started exhibiting his work in Amsterdam and Amstelveen, among others. He also had various exhibitions in Germany and France.

For decades he has been a part-time photography teacher at various secondary schools. For several years[(since) when?] he was also affiliated with the Volksuniversiteit Amstelland where he gave various courses and workshops.

From the late 1980s onwards he focused more on making art with mixed techniques such as screen printing and graphics. He has often worked on this from his studio at the St. Joseph School in Nes aan de Amstel for over 30 years. Based on his connection with Judaism, he has made a series of screen prints in which he has translated all letters of the Jewish alphabet according to his vision and interpretation of the meaning.
