Frans J. Joosen was a Dutch painter. He primarily painted figures, nudes, portraits, and landscapes. Joosen studied under Rob Verbunt and Jan Asselbergs. He was a member of the Tilburg Art Friends, founder, and chairman of the "Oosterhout" Art Contact Group until 1972.
Frans Joosen was born on March 29, 1932, in Tilburg. After a career in the navy, he developed an interest in drawing and painting. At an exhibition of contemporary Brabant painters, he saw the work of Nico Molenkamp, Jan Gregoor, and others. As a result, he joined the Tilburg art circle "De Kunstvrienden." Under the guidance of Jan Asselbergs and Rob Verbunt, he practiced portrait and figure drawing during the evenings of this circle. He soon began exhibiting and also became a board member of the Tilburg Art Friends.
