Subject: The image shows exactly what the title on the back indicated: a "Sură" (a traditional Romanian wooden barn or stable) in the mountainous village of Fundata. Next to the rustic wooden barn stands a large, characteristic haystack (căpiță), which is typical of Romanian rural life. [1]Style and technique: The work is built up from impasto, expressive brushstrokes with a lot of texture, which is characteristic of Baban's style. The sky has a deep, green-blue tint that contrasts with the earthy colors of the grass, wood, and autumn trees. [1, 2]Signature: In the lower right corner, the painting is signed and dated '05 B, which matches perfectly with the year 2005 written on the back.
